PADI Rescue Diver Course

Duration: 3 Days

The PADI Rescue diver course is the next step to continuing you dive education. This course teaches you to prevent and manage problems, giving you confidence to help others if necessary. The theory sessions teach you to be able to spot problems and effectively respond to them. The course can be challenging, but the role play scenario sessions, make learning a lot of fun too! This course goes a long way into making you a more confident, safety conscious diver.

To sign up for a PADI Rescue Dive Course, you need to be an Advanced Open Water Diver, and at least 12 years old, have completed a recognized First Aid and CPR course within the last 6 months, have good swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. 

The PADI Rescue Diver course will teach you:

  • Self rescue
  • Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Rescuing panicked divers
  • Rescuing unresponsive divers

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1:  Theory,  confined water rescue practice.

On the first day, you will review the Rescue Diver theory and watch video presentations. You will also practice self rescue and shallow water rescue scenarios, where in you and the instructors will simulate real life problems and learn to deal with them effectively.

Day 2:  Shore and Boat base rescues, Open water dives.

After completing the last two sections of the Rescue diver course theory, we practice some shore based rescue techniques and search patterns before heading out to practice rescue exercises 1 to 10. 

Day 3:  Rescue Scenarios 1 and 2, Open water dives.

 Day 3 is dedicated to practice scenarios where you put together all you’ve learned and carry out rescues to simulated emergency situations where the instructors and other course participants are assigned roles of victims and rescuers.
